About Diamond Drug

The Diamond Drug story began in 1970 when pharmacists Gilbert (“Gib”) and Joan Zilner purchased the drug store located at 639 Philadelphia Street from Mr. Harry Diamond. The Zilners’ new store would retain both the former owner’s name and reputation for customer service, although its location would change. In 1983, Diamond Drug moved to its present home at 670 Philadelphia Street, the former home of the JS Raub Store. A new Medical Supply store was opened in 1988 on Oakland Avenue. Along the way, Gib and Joan’s son Mark would join them behind the pharmacy counter, eventually becoming the Chief Executive Operating Officer of the steadily growing Diamond Drugs, Inc.

The original Diamond Drug stores are the cornerstone of a pharmacy services business that would expand greatly into the long-term care, correctional and medical supply markets from the 1970s through today. Nevertheless, the retail pharmacies remain the face and heart of our family business. The friendly, personalized attention to customer service that characterizes these hometown drug stores remains essential in all we do as a pharmacy services provider. Stop by either location today and see how much we care about care.
